You must select a long distance company to handle calls you make to places outside your local calling area. There are various long distance carriers that have requested access to New Hope Telephone's exchange, that you may choose from. When using your carrier for direct dialed calls, you dial 1 plus the area code and telephone number. Regardless of who you choose as your pre-subscribed long distance carrier, you may still use other long distance companies by dialing their access code.

There are three different areas of long distance service from your exchange: Regional Calling Area (INTRA Lata Area) INTER Lata Area (Calls in the US and it's territories and Canada but outside your Regional Calling Area) International Calling Area (Calls outside the US and Canada) New Hope Telephone is located in the Roanoke Regional Calling Area (see the map above). You may choose a different carrier for any of the three calling areas. You may contact the business office for a list of the long distance companies to choose from.
